Coupons and Coupon Holders
One of the most commonly used methods for internal corrosion and erosion monitoring is to use weight loss coupons. The coupons are made of the same or similar material as the pipe being monitored. In that way the weight loss of the coupons is representative of the weight loss of the pipe.

Sand Erosion Monitoring

Detecting Sand and Erosion
The sand and erosion monitoring system is based on measuring the change in electrical resistance of thin sensing elements which are eroded by sand (ER principle).

The SenCorr SE system offers sand monitoring close to the reservoir, detecting sand production at an early stage and minimizing the damage to chokes and valves. FSM Corrosion Monitoring
 
FSM (Field Signature Method) is a unique, non-intrusive technique for monitoring changes in a pipe wall over a relatively large area of pipe. The technique can also be used for storage vessels or any other metallic structures. By inducing an electrical current into selected sections of your structure, FSM monitors changes in the electrical field pattern due to general corrosion, pitting, erosion or cracking.
 
FSM Technology
The field proven FSM (Field Signature Method) technique detects metal loss, cracking, pitting or grooving due to corrosion by detecting small changes in the way current flows through a metallic structure.

FSM Inspection Tool FSM IT
 
The FSM Inspection Tool (FSM-IT) is the portable, NDT version of FSM. It reduces inspection time for Y and T-joints from hours to minutes. We can evaluate asset integrity without dismantling equipment, grinding off coatings or refitting insulation. User-friendly PC-software and fixed sensors mean operator independent results. It's the fastest and most accurate state of the art for non-intrusive corrosion monitoring.
 

Developed with support from Elf and Shell, FSM-IT is a portable instrument a user friendly PC software based on the field proven FSM principle.

Some main properties of the FSM-IT technology are:
Operator independent results
Can be used for complex geometry (bends, T-bends, Y-bends, etc.)

Can be used on high temperature objects (400C)
Much higher sensitivity than current UT or Radiography techniques (A few parts-per-thousand of wall thickness) with a good trending capability and increases actual sensitivity as defects develop
