Questar ®-P for process plant
Questar ®-PSV for pressure safety valves
Questar ®-M for optimised maintenance plans for rotating equipment and mechanical plant
Our methods are based on a combination of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques and rely on significant expert input from iicorr's highly qualified and experienced corrosion and integrity engineers.

iicorr has a Type A Inspection Body accreditation by UKAS under ISO/IEC 17020 for the in service inspection of pressure systems both onshore and offshore, ensuring competent management and implementation of plant inspection.

Applications:

The generic Questar ® tools are flexible enough to be modified to create client specific methods where appropriate.

A methodology devised by iicorr, for Risk Based Inspection and Maintenance of Pressure Safety Valves (PSV's). This method can also be used for the re-classification of PSV's. It increases safety by managing risk and reduces OPEX costs by at least 50%.

The method concentrates effort in a considered approach, by focusing on those safety valves posing the highest risk if they malfunction. The process involves the preparation and development of a proactive inspection programme based on the results of a Failure Risk Assessment (FRA).

Database Example

The FRA identifies valve type and service, combined with historical operational & maintenance data, fluid composition, duties, set pressures, and service dynamics.

Consequences of valve failure include the health and safety of personnel as well as the impact of volatile release on surrounding process equipment and installation.

Questar®-PSV is a cost-effective, methodical and flexible system embracing the legislative shift from prescriptive to considered and reasoned legislation, to achieve the highest standards of safety.

Final deliverable of the Questar®-PSV method is a revised inspection periodicity, based on a risk matrix. The results may extend the inspection / maintenance from 24 months to a possible 84 months. Assessment is carried out in accordance with current legislation and recommended practice in particular PSSR (2000), API 527 and API 576.

Questar®-PSV is tailored to a particular client's application, and provides a fully auditable approach. A typical North Sea platform may have up to 300 PSV's. Using Questar®-PSV may achieve cost savings in excess of £150K, on a typical platform, with only a fraction of that amount being required to implement the method.
